Calling all Cache Valley witches: BYOB - that's bring your own broom, in case you didn't know.
A witch festival, dubbed "What a Witch Wants," will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday on the grounds of the Historic Courthouse on Logan's Main Street. The event is free and open to the public.
"It's kind of a Halloween party for women, basically," said Denise Lindsay, a Wellsville resident who is spearheading the event. "It's the first one that I know of that's been done in Cache County."
For the past 10 years, Lindsay and her girlfriends have driven to Gardner Village in West Jordan for "Witches' Night Out."
"We're driving down there, spending money, when we could be keeping it here in the valley," she said. "Because really, Cache County doesn't do anything for Halloween."
Lindsay has worked to secure vendors for the event, which will include dinner, dancing and door prizes. There will be four contests, including the best cackle, broom, familiar and hat.
While witch wardrobe is required, attendees will also have a chance to win a witch makeover.
In case of inclement weather, the festival will be moved to the Cache County Administration Building.
